An unsuspecting teenager only discovered she was pregnant when she was five centimeters dilated and in ʟᴀʙᴏʀ, after having no bump, sɪᴄᴋɴᴇss, or ᴄʀᴀᴠɪɴɢs.
18-year-old Bry Blanton, from South Carolina, said that one day she woke up with a sharp ᴘᴀɪɴ and felt that her sheet was wet. Frightened, she called her mother, 36-year-old Jennifer Blackwell. When the woman saw her daughter, she immediately decided to take her to the hospital.
After a doctor’s examination, it turned out that Blanton was pregnant and in ʟᴀʙᴏʀ. This news shocked both the woman in ʟᴀʙᴏʀ and her mother, because previously Blanton had taken pregnancy tests several times, all of which showed a negative result. In addition, she did not have a baby bump or pregnancy sʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍs.
Bri was taken to the delivery suite and was in ʟᴀʙᴏʀ for two hours before giving birth to 7lbs 4oz Oakleigh at 7.36 a.m. on September 8. According to Blanton, she was hysterical for the first four hours after giving birth, but then she realized what had happened.
Bri’s mother, Jennifer, a branch manager for a care home agency, said, “To us, it was like she went to bed and woke up pregnant. She’d been in a bikini at eight months pregnant with no bump and even took a pregnancy test that came back negative. We had no idea. But Oakleigh is a blessing. Watching Bri be a mom is really beautiful.”
Jennifer suspected something might be wrong when Bri vomited after a heavy meal over the summer, and she got her daughter to do a pregnancy test. Bri had no pregnancy sʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍs and had carried on with her active lifestyle – riding, fishing and hunting – unaware she was expecting.
Now Oakleigh is four months old, and Jennifer is proud of the mother Bri has become. “She’s hands down the best mom,” she said. “Oakleigh has got us all wrapped around her little finger. Her facial expressions are everything. She smiles and laughs all the time. She’s a very happy girl.”
