Jarren Duran: The “Speed Star” Who Broke a 100-Year Record – From Darkness to Light.Y1

BOSTON, MA – In the midst of a tumultuous season, the Boston Red Sox have just witnessed a historic moment that has not appeared in more than a century. And the person who wrote that new chapter is Jarren Duran – an outfielder who once nearly retired due to a mental crisis, now becomes a living symbol of resilience and explosiveness.

In late June 2025, Jarren Duran officially became the first player in the 100-year history of the Red Sox – and a rare player in MLB – to hit at least 10 triples and 10 stolen bases in two consecutive seasons. An achievement considered “unprecedented” in the modern era of baseball – where speed, physicality and tactics must reach perfection.

“Duran is not just fast. He is a live electric current in the middle of the field, bringing the energy that the Red Sox need like oxygen,” – shared manager Alex Cora.

But behind the glory, there was a dark side that once engulfed Duran in darkness. In the Netflix documentary “The Clubhouse,” Duran revealed that he had suffered a serious mental breakdown, contemplated suicide, and felt trapped by the pressure of expectations from the team, the media, and himself.

“I didn’t see any reason to wake up in the morning. But then I realized… if I survived that night, I had to live to create something more meaningful.” – Duran in The Clubhouse.

Since then, he has tattooed two lines on his wrist:
“Still Alive” (I’m still alive)
“F* ‘em”** (F* ‘em”** (F* ‘em)” (F* ‘em)
— as a reminder to himself not to give up.

After his inner turmoil, Duran returned and played as if every game was his last. Record-setting time:
.255 batting average
6 home runs
44 RBI
49 runs scored
10 triples – most in MLB as of July
15 stolen bases

He overcame doubts, skepticism from experts and ridicule from anti-fans, to stand tall under the lights of Fenway – where fans now call him not only “The Flash”, but also the “Red Heart” of the Red Sox.

Achievements come and they will be broken. Records can be broken. But Jarren Duran’s journey from the abyss to the top, from despair to spiritual freedom – that is what people will remember forever.
Because he didn’t just save the team. He saved himself.
