Demi Moore’s Emotional Speech at 2025 SAG Awards: Reflects on Her Journey and Thanks Fellow Actors
Demi Moore’s acceptance speech at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards was as powerful as her performance in The Substance. After winning the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role on February 23, Moore took the stage and moved both celebrities and fans with her heartfelt words.
“I am so, so grateful that I have continued over these many years to be able to try, and sometimes succeed, and sometimes fail, but to be able to keep going,” Moore said as she accepted the trophy. She also shared how becoming a member of the Screen Actors Guild at the age of 15 in 1978 was a turning point in her life.
“It changed my life because it gave me meaning, it gave me purpose, and it gave me direction,” Moore recalled. “I was a kid on my own with no blueprint for life, and I certainly knew nothing about acting. But I watched, I learned, and I listened from all of you. You have all been my greatest teachers.”
She also offered advice to young actors: “As these young actors who are having to do it all, I just encourage you, don’t lose sight of the human connection. That’s the work that we do, it’s to be connected with one another.”
The actress became visibly emotional while reflecting on her journey. “That little girl, that little girl who didn’t believe in herself … just the words are kind of beyond me,” Moore said, struggling to hold back tears.
Moore’s SAG Award win follows her first Golden Globe victory on January 5, 2025. In her Golden Globe acceptance speech, Moore had reflected on how far she had come as an actor, marking the achievement after 34 years since her first Golden Globe nomination.
With her remarkable performance in The Substance, fans are now speculating that Moore could be on track for an Oscar. She is nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role at this year’s Academy Awards, alongside Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked”), Karla Sofía Gascón (“Emilia Pérez”), Mikey Madison (“Anora”), and Fernanda Torres (“I’m Still Here”). The Oscars will take place on March 2.
Fans are enthusiastic about her Oscar chances. One commented on YouTube, “The Oscars are next for Demi Moore! She’s beautiful, and her performance was outstanding.” Another said, “So many people grew up watching her—she’s an American icon and it feels like she is embodying an entire generation up there. Go Demi! So happy for her.” Others are cheering, “Oscar is next!!! Beautiful career and magnificent performance in The Substance! IT’S HER TIME!”
Demi Moore’s triumphs at the SAG Awards and Golden Globes make it clear that her extraordinary journey is only getting started.
