Police in Georgia are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who allegedly tied two dogs to the back of his car and then dragged them across a roadway which ended up killing one of them. According to a statement from the DeKalb County District Attorneys Office, the man was captured on surveillance footage dragging the two animals along a roadway in Redan, a town near Atlanta around 8 pm on September 13, 2024.
It was further shown that the man, who was wearing dark clothing, got out of the car and untied the dogs from the bumper leaving them for dead. The camera later caught the suspect’s car, a 2008-2012 Chevrolet Malibu, pulling into a parking lot at a recreational center in the town.
However, authorities were thwarted from learning the license plate number due to the fact that the man seemingly backed out of the space which prevented it from being read. It was reported by USA Today that a witness to the horrific act informed police about what was going on with the animals. Prosecutors also stated that a DeKalb County Animal Enforcement officer later found both dogs with a rope tied around their necks.

Donald Arthur Stickens III, 24, of Martin County is facing felony animal cruelty on a $55,000 bond. In addition to charges, police have also managed to tack on two more charges of drug use and tampering with evidence. The sickening event was caught on security footage showing Stickens entering the apartment complex with his ex-girlfriend’s nine-year-old golden retriever hanging by her leash.
The man then proceeds to punch the pooch several times in the head and body. Witnesses later told officers that this was not the first time that he had struck the animal. It was reported that the video was turned over to local police and local pet services who immediately launched an investigation into the well-being of the animal.
Experts later stated that the dog allegedly experienced a compromised airway, due to hanging by the leash, as well as blunt force trauma due to the six blows laid out by the man. NBC affiliate WLFA also reported that the dog had temporarily been taken to the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast before it was returned to the girl after she told officials that she and Stickens had broken up.
