Emma Watson shocked fans by leaving school behind to focus fully on acting. Discover how this bold decision changed her life and skyrocketed her Hollywood career!
In her latest interview with Times Style magazine, the 21-year-old actress shared: “When I was in school, I wanted to pretend that I wasn’t famous and was a normal student. I tried to keep things natural, but in the end I still had to accept who I was, where I was and what happened.”
Addressing the bullying rumours, Emma said: “I was upset when people kept saying I dropped out of Brown because my friends were ostracising me. It was all untrue. I never had to stand in the middle of the schoolyard to sign autographs. I really enjoyed going to parties with over 100 students.” The young witch from the Harry Potter series also said it was a difficult decision. Last year, she put her studies on hold to focus on the second part of the final Harry Potter film. But then in March, Emma decided to drop out of school to focus on acting full-time.
In an interview, the actress also mentioned the difficulty of finding a boyfriend because she was too famous. “I always ask my friends why Mr. X doesn’t call me? Why don’t I have any pursuers? They always say it’s because guys feel threatened when there’s always a circus around me.” Emma Watson spent two years studying at Brown University, Rhode Island, USA. When she left the school, she wrote on her personal website: “You know, I love Brown and everything about it. But I can’t keep my commitments to the school.”
Emma’s agent has announced that the actress will enroll at another university this fall. Emma is currently in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, filming the romantic film The Perks of Being A Wallflower, alongside two young stars – Nina Dobrev and Logan Lerman.
Emma Watson, along with her two friends Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, will reunite with movie-loving audiences around the world on July 15 in Harry Potter 7.2.
